Training for visitors on immigration detention bail, how applications for bail are made, what people in detention can expect and what visitors can do.
This content is available free to volunteers in AVID member groups and individual members of AVID. Volunteers who attend live AVID training will automatically receive a login. This training was delivered by Clara Della Croce (SOAS Law Clinic and Midlands Migrant Support) in April 2025. It provides visitors with an overview of immigration bail, how applications for bail are made (with or without a lawyer), what people in detention can expect and what visitors can do during this process.
About the Trainer
Based at SOAS, Clara Della Croce’s areas of expertise are international migration law, refugee and immigration law, human rights law, European law and development law.
For more than a decade Clara has worked supporting migrants, refugees, people in detention and people held under immigration powers in prisons. Clara is the Clinical Legal Education /Pro-bono Director for the School of Law, Gender and Media, leading the SOAS Detention Law Clinic and the SOAS ECF Clinic. Clara is also a Trustee for Midlands Migrant Support and previously worked with Asylum Welcome to establish their project in HMP Huntercombe.
